Where to buy parts in Florida

I'm going to be in Florida next week and was wondering where the best place is to buy old OMC parts off the shelf. I'm talking lower unit seal kits for 50's & 60's sub 18hp's and maybe some carb kits and fuel conversion kits for duals (I know, I know, leave it the same!) Is there a chain or major store that will carry many of these parts? I'm not big on getting stuff mail order. (and duty kills it all to Canada anyway). thx.

That's a good question and one for which I have no answer. And I live in Florida. You did specify off-the-shelf. Anybody can special order stuff for you. Dealers mostly don't want to touch old motors around here. In fact unless they have recently come down from Canada, most of the old motors are long ago eaten up by salt water. Maybe the interior part of the state away from the salt water, like Clewiston, might be your best bet.

I'm also in Florida. There is a store out of Lindenhurst, N.Y
"The Outboard Wizard - Lindenhurst Outboard Service" I'm redoing a 71 20 johnson and had problems finding some gaskets, bushing and seals for it. I called them and they had 98% of the stuff I needed. The local OMC dealers in florida have some parts, but if they don't it will take a week to get. These guys got them to me in 3 days. You can also visit the Iboats marine store. They have all the lower unit seal kits with good prices and fast delieveries ( around 3 days to Florida). What you could do..is order the parts and put the place you're going to be as the shipping addy. When you get there....the parts will be there. d

NAPA, auto parts stores also carry OMC parts.

well, I'm down here now and no luck so far... but have not tried Napa. I live near upper state NY (in Canada) but not near Long Island but thanks for the info.

google sierra marine parts they have a dealer locator on their web site. The one near me is in St. Petersburg, FL.

Well, I went to the NAPA in Clewiston and they could get the parts in but it was going to take a few days and I only had a few hours... oh well...

Why don't you use the BRP locater? Just select the third circle and put in the zip code where you want to shop.
