Bilge Vents and heat concerns

My engine compartment originally vented through vent hoses that opened into an area behind the port and starboard cockpit side panels. The panels were made with cutouts that allowed air to flow behind the panels into open air. I am planning to make new side panels closing off the area and installing access doors for storage. So I need a new way to vent the bilge. I was planning to glass in some doublers on the inside of the hull just below the gunnels and cut in some fancy stainless vents with vent boxes and hoses. The holes for the hoses are already there passing from the cockpit deck through to the bilge area. The problem I have is that on the port side the original vent hole was used to pass the head's holding tank pumpout hose from the tank to the port gunnel where a pumpout fitting is placed.
I have no room to reroute the sanitation hose. You think it would restrict air flow too much if I go ahead and cut in the side vent on the port side and leave the area open rather than using a vent box? Air would have enter through the port vent and pass through the original pass through hole with the sanitation hoses. I know, you have no idea what I am talking about and I need to post pictures. Don't feel bad I am confused myself at this point.

Do you have room on the transom to mount clamshell vents?

I was going to say, "Install a Bilge fan!" But that has already been stated...LOL! So I will say,"Give us some pics!" So we can see what you are just talking about....a pic says a thousand words, and you are trying to explain something that has already given somebody a headache!!! LOL!

I do have a bilge fan that blows through a hole in the transom. As I understand bilge fans, they are only meant to evacuate the bilge prior to start-up, not to be run constantly.
I am concerned more with venting while underway to prevent overheating the engine compartment. Below is a link to the vent I want to cut into the outside of the hull.

I considered using a couple of clamshells as my Aussie friend suggested. I could, but it is not my first choice. With the handrail, cleats and fuel fill back there the clamshells would make that area look cluttered. Also they would add to the toe stubbing mine field. The boarding ladder is also back there and my son and I have both suffered ouchies after swimming.

the fan is for evacuating before starting and when idling, or running slow.. most of the newer I/O use the attwood style vents. one forward, one stearn facing, creating a cross flow or aid. also the air will move thru the fan out the stearn when fan is off.
