Iboats Idea that would Rock!

I don't work for Iboats, but I work with software/site development and have experience with GIS/mapping...How awesome would it be to be able to tie a picture of a fish/cool spot to a GPS coordinate.

Ok, picture this...

You catch a huge fish and document your coordinates on your GPS (millions of us have GPS)...then you log onto Iboats, type your coordinates and attach your pic...Even if you don't fish, you can attach pics of cool places on the water to a coordinate for others to see.

Iboats users can then click on a map and drill down to areas of interest...then click on posted flags and see pics and submitted text about that area...I think this would set Iboats apart from their competition.

Thoughts?

Lets keep this rolling and I will submit this to the suggestion link in a couple of weeks!

If Iboats reads this and wants to pursue a web based GIS interface, let me know and I will put in many more cents...Overall, this site is the best forum I have ever seen...Keep ahead of the competition Iboats! Your software engineers are hating me right now.

no, right now, they are hating bbBoard v2, for creating this mess, we've had for the last year. but they are about to get us back to a much better forum. it's in the testing stages, right now. thank God and Ryan.

Well, around here people who fish would sooner scuttle their own boats as give you the coordinates to the places where the fish are; they are very protective of those locations.

As far as the forum goes, it will be the best when they get it back to normal and get the search function working properly. We're almost to that point. The powers that be were duped into the current software and it really has thrown them for a loop. They've really been trying to fix it, since the switch, and they've been working hard on it too, but have given up. If you took the Library of Congress and removed all the shelves from the buildings, all the ID numbers from the books, and then heaped all the books in a giant pile you would have the equivalent of this forum in it's current state. But the good news is we're about to do the exact same process in reverse!

Well, if you wanted to do that, just start a post in the fishing section, and get a mod to "sticky" it to the top. Anyone who wants to share, can post a picture and type in the coordinates. No excessive software changes needed.

It's about Our Home Ports,+ showing them on Google Earth......
