yesterday we were transferring our ski's off single trailers, onto and newly acquired double trailer. 1st ski went fine. 2 nd would not start, so we launched it (forget the plugs), nephew went to change trailers to the double. nearly sank the sucker. no damage, but a couple of more minutes, and it would been too late. no beach to beach it

I don't think there is a single honest long time boater that has not done that or worse, even with years and years of experience.

Let's see, we had to leave boat on trailer but park them near loading ramp as there were not enough slips for the night, (camping). Went next morning to hook up the boat, forgot to drop the latch on the trailer, lift up wheel, put drain plug in and release tie downs on the back of the trailer. :^

All in one morning.

Decided we would park it again until everyone that was LOL so hard has shoved off, eat breakfast, take a shower, and try again.

Some days I get a "Brain Cloud".

Go to Dale Hollow, first week end of Dec, have wife launch you and boat into 50' or so of water and then remember the plug is not in.
Then diving into said 50' or so of water to put plug in while the dock people are running for cover laughing about this and when the wife comes back from parking truck, asks. Honey whatcha doing all wet?:':)'(

How about forgetting to take the plug out? A friend of the family parked his boat in the driveway and left it there a couple months. It rained a lot during those months and it filled almost completely with water. There were deep impressions and cracks in the hull from the enormous weight pushing down on the rollers.

Re: left the plug out. 1st time in 30years

First time my grandpa let me take the boat out by myself. It was middle of the day and I went to the most popular launching site on the lake, it was backed up about 4 boats and trailers. So it was my turn, i had no problem backing the trailer in, launched the boat, went back to park trailer. Got to my boat and water was gushing in from the plug hole. I cleaned the boat out before i left and put it on the step. So i run over to the car and lifted the handle but nothing happened. I locked the keys in jeep!! i had to call up the pops and he brought a spare key and the plug, then i had to go to each person and tell em what happened and asked if i could get in front of them. by the time i got the boat on the trailer it was almost half full of water and i was amazed it didn't sink. I've never forgot the plugs since:$ i went home after that, no fishing that day

OMG... I hope that I can possibly avoid all of this. I found in the latest issue of Boating Life magazine a nifty little plate that mounts to the bow winch on the trailer. When you take the plug out of the boat, you put it in it's place in the plate. That way, if you are letting out on the strap, and you see a plug in the plate, you know that there's a hole in the back of your boat! Hmmm.... now where did I put that issue and where is my credit card?

Got the boat out on the first trip if the year last week and that was the first thing i checked when we got to the launch, and it was in. So then I get the boat in the water and i look and it is filling up with water. Turns out that the plug was in but not tightend, no harm done though.

Launching next Friday and have 5 stickers "PLUG" !!! reminding me, all over the boat.
