Fuel mix question

I have tried on two occasions to post this without success.
Maybe third time lucky.
I have a 1987 8 HP Evinrude, Belgian made, E8BRCUD.
It has a little sticker on the side indicating 100:1 mix.
I have been using 50:1 and it seems a little oily. Should I take note of the sticker and use 100:1.:%

Re: Fuel mix question

I think OMC tried 100:1 for a time in some of their engines, but discontinued later. Others can give you more particulars. It may take special oil to run that lean. If you choose to stay with 50:1 you might try full synthetic. I know Pennzoil makes it for one. My engine smokes much less with it.

Re: Fuel mix question

OMC changed the 100:1 recommendation many years back. 50:1 is the correct mix. As Mark said, full synthetic or a synthetic blend will reduce the smoke and oil sheen. I use Pennzoil semi-synthetic (Walmart) and it smokes much less and the plugs look cleaner...

Re: Fuel mix question

Thanks Guys.
I have been running 50:1 and using Penzoil blend from Wally world. I use the same mix on other motors I have.
Thank you for putting my mind at ease.
Great forums these.
