Hi I have a Sears 7 hp. (217-58531), gave a guy I work with $50 for it. It seems to run ok but it is stuck in gear, got it apart and not sure how the clutch mechinism is suppose to opperate. I suppose it is spring opperated and when the drive nuetral lever is move to drive it compresses the spring upward engaging the clutch. Well if this is the case mine is froze up. I also noticed it isn't pumping water. Where can i get parts and did I just throgh out $50. OO what kind of fuel miw should it run

Re: Sears Gamefisher stuck in gear

Welcome to iboats Ronzo. I just finished fixing up a 3hp model similar to yours. I found most of the parts I needed at www3.sears.com Anything else you might need, Laing's Outboards (Google it) usually will have. Just call him up and tell him what you need. Are you sure that motor is water cooled? I believe it's air cooled and won't have a water pump. Could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time. Anyway, plug that number you gave into the Sears website and you'll get some diagrams and parts lists. Good luck.

Oh, and 24:1 is the correct fuel to oil ratio. Be sure to use 2 stroke oil for air cooled engines like motorcycle oil or chainsaw oil. I've been runnin' 16:1 in mine for the time being just 'cause and it does fine. When it runs out though I'll switch.

It has a water pump to cool the exhaust. The motor runs better with it working, but it will run without. It's a 1970 Eska leg with a Tecumseh powerhead. You can get powerhead parts through a lawnmower dealer. Powerhead model 639-10A.
