Riser Temperature at idle speed

I was trolling this past weekend and the port side riser reached 212 on the IR gun (idle rpm 700). The rest off the engine was around 160. This is the riser that sees the Raw water last and usually runs hotter. When I speed up out idle it cools down. Obviously more water is running through at higher speeds. Is the 212 temperature OK to run for a few hours when trolling?

That seems way too hot.

When was the last time you pulled the riser to take a look at the passages and changed your impeller?

What motor?
It sounds hot......

You should have enough flow at idle to keep the engine temp at whatever the thermostat is.......
It is possible that the riser is partially clogged with scale.....;)

How hot was the starboard riser?

The motor is an AQ240A Volvo Penta . The starboard riser was 165. The risers and mainfolds were changed about 1 year ago and the impeller around 8 months. I have yet to pull the riser to check condition. Was hoping to get an idea of 1st things to check if thats too hot.

All those parts seem new enough that you should not be having this problem. Might be worthwhile checking for hoses that are collapsed or other blockages.
