I have a HUGE roll of what I think is fiberglass mat. I am going to be gutting a boat and doing transom.stringers/floor. Is this something I can use or should use?

EDIT: Soliciting not allowed here.

Yes that is fiberglass mat and you will use a bunch of it. You will also need fiberglass cloth and woven roving.

How do I determine the size/weight or however it is classified? Which phases will this material be used? It is somewhat stiff, so I would assume that it isn't suitable for stringers etc.

On your weight question - compare it with known samples of various weights.

On the stiffness - how old is this stuff? You can use it almost anywhere. What you use will depend on where you need it. Often you will use several types in the same area - for example the transom.

It looks like 3/4 oz and it does look stiff on the roll, but sometimes it's made that way for a reason and other times it's a mistake in production. It can also get stiff sometimes when it gets old, or possibly damp and then dries out.

The roll is about 7 feet tall and 3-4 feet diameter, there has to be plenty of usable material here, if it's an appropriate mat.

Mat can be purchased in sizes like that, but it looks odd, like it was for some other type of use. Where did it come from?

It showed up in a cable and chain warehouse, near a cargo train facility. Unkown where from but over 10 years old.
