Bent Skeg on an Alpha 1

Is it possible to straighten a bent aluminum skeg on a Alpha 1? I thought about applying heat and tapping with a brass hammer.

Sometime you can bend them without heat and sometimes they break. it really depends on where the bend is and how much it's bent. Heat would be the best and safest option but the heat travels fast in aluminum and may get to some of the seals in the lower unit. It may have to be disambled to avoid damage. It really all depends on how bad and where the bend is. Be carefull.

I would just leave it if it is just bent sideways

break it off and put a skeg guard on.

Cutting it off would be safer, you have no way to control the break line.
