First it was global cooling,,,,, no, no, global warming.

Then it was the wonder's of MBTE, no wait, the horror's of MBTE.

Then the utopia of hybrid cars, that turn out to have false MPG ratings not much more than the standard.

Then windmills, wonderful gifts of mother nature! Well as long as they don't agigate the Kennedy's and the birds who can't read those tri-lingual signs telling them not to fly into whirrling blades.

Then nuclear! Ah, the limitless power of the atom, boycotted by the same types who are now demanding that we build more plants, but they haven't resolved the very issues that caused them to force companies to stop contruction of plants in the 70's, midstream, at a terrific cost to the public.

Ah yes, the free power provided by hydro-electric... But it really bumms out the fish... And we know who really has rights in this country, our scaley friends. d:)

Well, in the spirt of consistancy, I bring you todays evolution of the new nectar that is ethanol. Yep, I guess we worked TOO FAST, WITH POOR SCIENCE. We will now be starving the people and polluting the water.

How did I know this was just around the corner....

It's all a conspiracy, Pointer. They (who the heck is that?) want to keep you confused so they can promise a solution and get you to vote for them.

What's your point, Pointer?

That proposed solutions to the problem have their own drawbacks?

Or that we never faced a problem in the first place?

MTBE was put in the gas because many urban areas were choking from the created smog. It improved the smog, but has an effect on groundwater. What a shock!

There may not be a perfect solution to this. Does that mean we should stop trying to find a solution, or just keep buying Arab oil and funding our enemies?

I don't understand your point.

Re: Ah, the confusion of it all..........

Simplicity is the answer PW. I suggest we KNOW what we are doing before we enact laws limiting personal freedoms. Why this is the United States, personal freedom used to mean something here. Something people valued. You know, the rights of the one over the wants of the many...... Seems something is all turned around. And as in the examples above, the solutions are worse than the problem. So the technology for catalytic converters comes along, great - institute it. Some clown with a political agenda comes along and wants to ruin all of our possessions, limit our property rights, infringe on our family values, for the "betterment" of society, I am of course skeptical. You would have to have a screw loose not to be.

The sky is falling crowd and their un-American solutions prove to be falicies more than reality as pointed out in the examples. And how long did it take to have MBTE removed from the fuel once the threat was detected? Years! There is the simple point. And now to find out Ethanol really isn't "saving" the environment has to be a blow to anyone who actually swallowed the Kool-aid. But then again, maybe not. We sure did show big oil a thing or two... :}

Now where do we go for the following newly created government jobs.

Gas Police
Toilet Police
Light bulb Police
Cigarette Police
Unsaturated Fat Police
Animal over Citizens rights Police
Nuclear waste Police
Children without Bike Helmet Police
Carbon Footprint Police
Soda Police
Word Police
Thought Police (for the "hate" crimes double jeopardy farse)
Spanking Police
Innoculation Police

Or is this all on the Junior Narc program?

Frogger,

He cited sources and was correct on most of his analyses based on my own and company research. Not sure what was so "junk" about it . . .
