Hi,
I just got a Hitachi 50" rear projection TV, model #50EX14BV.
I found a website that had the manual for it, but it is an "RAR" file and when I try to decompress it, then open it, it is all jiberish.
Here is a sample of what I am trying to decompress.....I don't speak computer.
Eg: "%Yk\æpuÞl ?ö?Žë+Š@QôdÔ?v5ºš???WÉv]cÀ;ë+Šèø}ƒ"f-Âm?
oÙ9Š*ªø@)z/J5kbe??|:*Ú?Z?m?º??Eû;PŠ?9???\fݚéfuKöA?ó?Šjäê?Læ?|
È'zÕpe8ÑOû?6U???%µcNÃRS?%JÆádH8/Ê?^t.ã.f
š4??Ã?A2ðN
?yOsPèôŒ??ð
S5 h%òYÄâ\37)?ƒœ?"

Now what the heck does that say???????

Does anyone know how to decompress this kind of file?

Thanks for any help.

Anyhoo...I am trying to decompress an "RAR" file and having difficulties.
I just got a Hitachi 50" rear projection TV model #50EX14BV and I found a site that has the manual, but it has been compressed into the "RAR" file.

Does anyone know how to decompress this file?

Thanks for any help,

Thanks Bob. I just went to that site and tried what it said, but the file will still not decompress.
I don't know what else to try?

yes, that took a little while to figure that out too, but yes, I downloaded all 10 files and it still does not decompress.
And I just downloaded WinRar and now it says the file is corrupt.

Re: Decompressing an

I use IzArc for all my unzipping needs. It'll open just about everything, works just like winzip and it's free.

(7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA, C2D, CDI, CAB, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB, LZH, MBF, MDF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ, UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, ZOO)

http://www.izarc.org

If it's a spanned rar archive (filename.rar, filename.r01, filename.r02, etc...) unpack just the .rar file and it'll unpack 'em all automatically.

Re: Decompressing an

After downloading 3 different programs, I finally got ExtractNow to work for me.
All that just for a TV manual
Thanks for the tips though.

Arghhh!!!

For solve out with corrupted and lost .rar files try rar fixer. The utility restores rar data after power failures, malicious software. It demonstrates the results of recovered data and not to change source file during recovery.

Re: Decompressing an

winrar is free. just download it. the RAR compression is much more comprehensive than the old zip file conversion.

I would guess that if the OP hasn't got it solved in 4+ years, that he has probably given up....or gotten rid of the TV.;)
