Re: Want to make your own SeaFoam?
I'm too grateful for the ease of use, lack of price gouging and excellent results to bother with trying to beat the Seafoam people at their game. I've got a bunch of engines big and small. They all get Seafoam and Deep Creep (Seafoam Spray) and I probably don't spend more than $30/yr to protect them.
Pour a can in the last tank of the season and you decarbonize, winterize and leave a little extra oil film. Not bad for $5 and two minutes. OK 5 minutes, you've got to clean the funnel first.
I learned about Seafoam from an iBoats forum posting coincident with the purchase of an auction truck in a sad state of ping. After one tank of premium laced with Seafoam it returned to showroom performance on regular. I ran out and put it in everything else and haven't had a lick of fuel-based trouble since.
I never went for engine tonic nor patent medicines. As a result I've been "poor Ed" with a neglected motorcycle. You don't want to go there. I used Seafoam to resurrect it (and since to protect it). And I've posted before about its effect on a well used inboard -- be prepared for soot!
I used to rebuild carbs for friends, now I say "Seafoam and call in the morning", they usually don't. I love the stuff.
