White 18 foot Wellcraft with a Yamaha F115. It also has a gray Bimini top. We will probably be closer to 7:30. My friends that are coming are notorious for being late.

Working on getting the boat ready for this weekend. New seats won't be in in time so have to do some temp patching to hold them down. Just saw that most of the skeg is broken off. Have no idea how that happened. Must have been on the road because it was fine when I came out of the water. Can't do anything about that now. Have a million other odds and ends to do.
Can't wait to get in the water!!!! Going to launch at Charlestown and down to cottage.

Putting Twice as Nice in the water in about an hour, I hope Tydings gives me a slip on pier 6. My cool new phone lets me effortlessly surf the net so I will update where we are.

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you over this weekend and next week!

To those I don't see, please have a happy and SAFE holiday! America rules!

Hey, Scott - I get instant email notifactions on my phone when someone posts here. We will keep an eye on here to see where you are at.

I only have the handheld VHF with me so my range will be limited but we will have it on.

Same here, I may not have to use my computer much anymore. I upgraded to an HTC EVO, the thing has a 4.3" screen on it! Many cool apps, even boating apps.

We got to the marina about 10 after 6 yesterday, didn't realize they close the office at 6. Went to pier 6 and saw a friend of ours there, he told us a slip was empty so we tied up there. It's directly behind Winter Dream!
My lines were too short, we're heading over there shortly with longer lines. We had to tie a few together so we could tie up right.

We'll only be out for a bit today, we still have to do some stuff for the parade tomorrow, and we have a birthday party at 4 today.
After the parade tomorrow we'll re-launch Twice as Nice and go out for awhile, then reslip her for the fireworks!
If anyone isn't on the water and wants to hang with us let me know here!

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

We had a great time during our first outing on the upper Chesapeake today. We relaxed for a while anchored at the sand islands until it got too crowded, then went by Havre de Grace and saw Twice as Nice at pier 4 about 2:30 but it was empty. Had a late lunch at Nauti Goose and finally home.

The day spoiled us for going on the Delaware river anymore.

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

i went over to the north east river to watch the fireworks tonight.
I ended up anchoring right past carptener point. The chart says that it is only 2 ft deep past that point, so i stopped and anchored in about 7 ft of water.
there is just no way according to the chart, to the from the back channel to the main channel without going thru 2-3 ft of water.
But we got around the point so that we could see the fireworks. but they were a ways away.

Might just go to the carnival tommorow to watch the fireworks. Might stop by the marina and see who is there.

Getting ready to pull the boat out for the parade, hopefully we'll be back on the water around 5-ish. I have to come home to let the dog out between parade and fireworks but should be able to get out on the water for a couple hours.

Kyle, you should hook up with these guys, they have Thursday night races and sail all over the NE river!

We were there. I thought that that was you right up front. I ended up going to the back of the basin.

What did you think about the tug boat pulling that barge down the canal?

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Dan,

Yeah we were hanging out up at the front of the basin. I was kinda dissapointed with the fireworks I didnt know they were so far away. The firework was out before you heard the sound. I dont know if we'll make a big deal about seeing them next year.

We passed the tug too. I normally give them or any other large ship 2 flashes with my light to let them know i see them. We cruise at night often and it makes it hard to judge the wave size until your right on them.

Did you make it out today? we just got in. Spent 12 hours cruising, cooking out, hanging out, tubing and catching the HG fireworks.

This was my first time cruising into HG and all i can say is that im very thankful i had my gps on the way out.

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

What a bunch of crazy people out on the forth. Spent the day at Sand Island, then tubing in the back channel. Started in to HDG about 6-630 and then the fun starts, no less than 4 boats pulling tubes in the channel. One guy kept cutting back and forth to catch the wakes of the other boats for the tube. another must have had 10 people on a 20-22' with two kids on the tube. Yet another with a tube and three kids sitting off the front of a cuddy with a railing, even my 10 year old said "what are those crazy people doing". and in the middle of all this a ski boat pulling a bowrider (10+ people on each). I could not wait to get back to the river, where surprisingly no one was tubing, go figure. I guess they were all getting a late start for the fireworks, that must have been quite the scene after the fireworks.
