Re: sears

1969 5Hp Tecumseh powerhead on an Eska leg. Powerhead is air-cooled, but it has a water pump to cool the exhaust. It can be run with a failed water pump, but they run better with it working. Lawnmower dealers can help with powerhead parts.

Use 2-stroke lawnmower oil in it. I'd mix 4oz/gal.

Re: sears

My after market manual says 16:1 for 69 motors.
It appears it has ball or needle bearings only in the top and bottom mains.
Mix changed to 24:1 for 70-73,32:1 on 74 and later.
All my books say Outboard oil for all aircooled outboards but it makes sense to me that oil intended for air cooled motors(chain saws etc)
would be better matched.

Re: sears

Hold on!!!!
I have the same motor. This engine use 16:1 fuel to oil ratio.

16:1 is 8 oz. of oil to a gallon and NOT 4 oz.

You must use 8 oz. of oil in this engine.

Somebody needs to check ratios.

This will burn your motor up if you use only 1/2 of the oil. Please take time to check the impeller. It is necessary to keep the head cool.
Thanks,
Andrew
