I have been a user of Netscape for a long time. However, when my hard drive crashed recently, I did not reload it, thought I would try out IE for a while ... thought I would like to use U-Promise's tool bar. However, evertime I close IE, it crashes! What is up with that? Is it a configuration problem? Any insight would be appreciated!

I'm not familiar with that toolbar. Is it something you added? Is there an error when you close IE7?

Re: IE7

There is no error message, just that the program is not responding and Microsoft wants to send a message to see if it can be corrected (or whatever that message is). BTW, I disabled the U-promise tool bar and it still acted up.

Hrm, disabling might not be enough. Try uninstalling it and see what that does. Yea, you get the send/don't send.

Uninstalled the tool bar - no difference!

Re: IE7

Download FireFox....then uninstall IE. :^

Seriously, you may want to uninstall IE and try a fresh install, there might be something corrupted...possibly by the add-on.

Add-ons for a freshly released version of software is an iffy situation. Sometimes they work, sometimes they create more work than they save.

When I first got IE7, it rarely lasted over 30 minutes before crashing. Lately it has been much more stable.I have to use it for online classes I'm taking, but all my other browsing is done with FireFox.

Re: IE7

Well, if you want to use Firefox that's fine (that's what I use). However if you're set on making IE7 work you might try uninstalling it. That should put you back at IE6. See if IE6 crashes in the same way. If not, you can try installing IE7 again.
