Funny you should mention that Murky. I have several close rel-hicks living in MULTI MILLION dollar homes on the west cost that fit that statement to a "T". Always going on about the government needing to help those less fortunate, giving the illegals rights, mandating a "Living wage" and socialized (nationalized) health care ya-da-ya-da-ya-bla-bla-bla.......And how many people are living in THEIIR 6500+sq foot homes........................2 count e'm 2............... Seems to me there’s plenty of room and more than enough financial means available for them to put their money and homes where their mouths are.

^^^ And the worst part is that they are probably the ones hiring lawyers & accountants to take advantage of every tax loophole they can find so they pay even less. :|

Yah LT, Ol' Ted Kennedy n' the rest o' the 'existing' Kennedy clan comes ta mind, AS THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES ON THE PLANET. The whole family are "trust fund" babies. That's 'off shore' trusts set up by the finest and most politically cornected lawyers that money can buy, (BTW), n' the US treasury, or the Massachusetts treasury gets very little from the Kennedy fortune during life or at death. JFK, were he alive today, (he'd be an old geezer), or had he lived: would have been to the right of most Republicans today, n' proposed and inacted tax cuts which really helped the economy in 1962 just like all tax cuts have since then, (shocking: I know). The Democrat n' MSM montra is a total lie, (ya know that we need to raise taxes n' GWBush had the worst economy since the 1930s which they all said n' howled about over and over in 2001 after GWB took over leading up to the 2004 election). Ted Kennedy n' the rest of the clan can preach higher taxes or reestablishing estate taxes that they refused to make perminant because nanny government is your anchcor in holdin' ya back in life with lots o' taxes n' your "partner in death" sharin; what ya managed ta keep from ol' nanny gov during yer life. BTW most Democrat Senators are very wealthy multi millionaires n' have 'off shore' trusts jus' like ol' Ted does. I was in the investment business for 22 years, (I know a few things of which I say here). There is a li'l change from my previous $.02. JR

I guess I would concede to include Japan, Korea and Singapore (I actually lived in Singapore many years back), but the numbers are pretty thin, so I will stick to my original statement.
As for appeasing trading partners......I think we have to get over this fear of upsetting trading partners, and remember it is them that need us, not us that need them.
I can go without my cheap Chineses power tool or cloths, but lets see them go without their US bucks.
As an example, lets see Chinas reaction if USA said tomorrow, no more chinese goods, thank you very much but they have most of us believing we are the benefactors of their trade.
We can do without them; they can't do without us.
Bit like oil.
The day the "free world" tells the middle-east, thanks for the offer of oil, but no tank you...we will use our own and see how we go things will change quite dramatically.
Cheers
Phillip

World trade today is becoming more than ever a symbiotic affair than most of us are led to believe.

Example:
America is a society that is living on credit cards. We mostly spent more than we earn.So we borrow money.Lots and lots of it.
China has a humongous stockpile of dollars because of their trade surplus with the USA.
China lends us the money so we can continue buying their products.
A vicious circle in which to nations become equally dependent on each other.

You are very Right here Rolmops n' Vlad. The holders of our T bills, notes n' bonds have ta be very carefull, (as do we). I dissagree with Phil, as we all need each other to make the world better and more prosperous and war less likely. If ya stop trade for any artificial reason a massive Deflationary Depression would shortly follow with WAR right behind. Again that's jus' a li'l history many have apparently forgotton, (or may have never learned). Please study History and start thinkin' critically. Respectfully, (I may dissagree but that does not mean I do not intend respect), JR

You are dead right OMR.
There is no argument there.
I am just getting a little tired of how we always have to avoid upsetting our trading partners, when it is them that need us.

Yah Rolmops, Sometimes, (not real often), you make good sense ta me, with some of yer statments, (but I only have one brain cell, n' I don't have a Masters in PolySci from Europe: [no less]), nor have I ever lived or been a soldier in the Middle East, nor am I a Muslim. Those are all things that really impress ol' Murky, so you undoubtably have many insights that I lack, (n' Lord knows: Murky luvs ta learn things from people with differing perspectives). I have a Moroccan friend, (from a famous Royal Family), who I luv ta talk politics n' religion with n' I have learned many many things from that man! Ya may have some good smoke too, (but I was generally kiddin' 'bout that). Jus' 'cause ol' Murky is impressed with ya doesn't mean we will agree too much 'bout politics, but that is also possible. Ya never know. Respectfully JR ps: I'm just a hick from Seattle n' went to the U of Washington right out of HS. Started as a EE then transferred to Business Admin. The Engineering Dept was apolitical but Cornservative, the Bus School was slightly Lib, but my Poli Sci classes: WOW. They were all "grade yer self" as those long haired Proffs could not grade students: "GRADES WERE ONLY FER CATTLE" 8)8)(ya know what ol' Murky gave himself fer a grade don't ya?) I unlike most of me Fraturnity Bros actually went to those classes. Lots o purdy girls n' all, n' I was amazed how much they worshipped Fidal n' Lennin et al. If the Northern Left Coast of N America was that Liberal what was the Poli Sci in Holland like????? Musta been somethin'!

I'd say ya might have a point there Vlad! Ol' Murkys' brain cell struggles ta understand Lefties. I been buggin' Rolmops n' PW2 fer some of their smoke ta see if Murky's brain cell could achieve enlightenment, so I could understand Lib logic n' maybe look down my nose at the rest of ya like Libs do, 'fore it wore off n' Murky resumes bein' a single brain cell Cornservative hick from Seattle!!8):$8)8)8) JR ps The amazing part of those Poli Sci classes was not the gorgeous college girls, but the absolute devotion to Fidel Castro. The Proffs worshiped the guy, (dunno why they liked totalitarian systems so much). Why Does Chris Dodd like 'em? Why did so many Dems like the Sandinestas? Go figure!!
