I need some advice on prop pitch. I have a 17' Aluminum boat with a '89 Johnson 110. I don't know the RPM range (tach does not work). Can anyone suggest the proper prop pitch? This boat is just for fishing. Thanks!

Re: Prop Pitch

17 for towing, 21 for speed, 19 average. That's about average. Specifics could move the range up or down a size.

Go here (frequently asked questions) - it explains what data you need to help figure out the ideal prop for your boat/motor combination. There is no such thing as a "standard prop"

Re: Prop Pitch

Best guess, as based on one of the propeller catalogs would be a 14 x 19. I suggested the newer style, larger blade diameter because I think it will have a better hole shot and a little better top end. But keep the RPM's in a decent range for the motor. You should really get a tach that works to dial in the correct propeller.

I have a 14 x 19 for that motor that I would let go of cheap. You can contact me through a pm if you are interested, and I will send you a picture or give you my email.
