Federal: $22,789.00
State: $6686.00
Medicare: $1828.00
Social Security $5840.40
Property Taxes $3500.00
Sales Tax? Estimate at $3,000.00
Gasoline Taxes Who Knows??
Aproximate taxes I pay are around $45,000.00 yearly.

I work my butt off for my income and I sure hate to see the State and Fed spending more of my money than I spend yearly.

I'm no expert when when it comes to taxes, but can't you deduct the sales and local taxes from your federal taxes?
I understand how you feel, it really sucks to see ones hard earned money flushed into the (sewer) hands of the addicted big spenders in Washington.

Just look at it this way, if you hadn't been such a greedy capitalist pig, you wouldn't have made so much money and therefore wouldn't have to pay so much in taxes! :%:':)^

I'll go you one better. My son graduated from school last spring and began work. His IRS tax bill for 2006 is $80,000. Since he was in school and didn't work at all in 2005, the basis for estimated payments during 2006 was zero.

Re: UGH !! My Tax Bill

Paying does not bother me near as much as things like

My mom setup a special needs trust for my two handicapped brothers the feds gotta get a piece of it every year along with the tax firm because the Forms are insanely complex to fill out

My younger brother is just smart enough to be the shoping cart guy at the store or some other type of job that pays very littel and gets 500 a month from the trust

He has never taken any goverment aid yet allways has to pay a lot of taxes while some other idoit gets a tax credit because they have children they can not afford

My children 19 and 22 are working there way through collage with are help the amount of taxes i see them pay on the very low incomes is

It is a huge tax bill you got there.Consider yourself blessed that you have an income big enough to generate this tax bill.

Be glad you weren't that prosperous during the FDR era. Your federal income tax would have exceeded $80,000. Never mind the other taxes on taxes.

I wonder how much the Bush tax cut saved you. Oh, I forgot. It's all Bush's fault.:$

You can deduct one or the other but not both. I still don't have enough "deductions" to override the standard deduction amount.
AGI was $151,000 because I sold some stock this year.I was so shocked, I had to run my tax program three separate times to see if I had made an error. My luck, no error.

I got a small state refund last year,
this year maryland sent me a 1099, as they considered the refund from last year, taxable income to be added income this year, the only reason I received a refund is because I pay extra all year so I won't have to pay in a lump...
go figure...........

Talking 'bout the Bush tax cut, it saved me an extra 12K, but all of that and then some is now lost to higher insurance costs, has anyone here checked their phone bills to see what they're paying in taxes and fees?

When you're writing the check remember the Senate War Appropriations bill includes ****$100,000,000***** for "security" at the political conventions.

A tad excessive, don't you think?

Tyme2fish, me thinks that you're seriously in need of a good tax lawyer.
They can save you a lot of time and money when it comes to legally defending yourself from the rain.;) ;)

I appreciate that advice but I don't think it would do any good. My income was all from W-2 and stocks, interest and dividends. No way to cheat on those figures.
I do live on 5 acres so maybe the Government can pay me to not grow something that I didn't grow last year!!!!

I get the same thrill when I give them medical care at no cost to them. However, my own adult children have no medical insurance and would have to declare bankrupcy for any injury incurred.:|:|:|
