Unwinterizing a 1991 OMC Cobra

Got the boat out of storage and instead of putting everything back together, my mechanic (tried a guy closer to home ) he gave me a bag with all the parts back. I've managed to replace the hoses with the two clamps, the four drain plugs with the brass plugs (2 on each side- one for manifold, one for block). I now have 3 stainless flathead screws with ring gaskets left. They almost look like fill hole screws from the drive but aren't. They don't have magnetic ends, etc. Anyone know where they might go????

They sound like drain screws. The only one that has a magnet is the very bottom drain on the drive. There are 3 on the outdrive total...one is the top dipstick...8)

Not all drain screws have magnets on them. But I think you should look at the upper drive.Probably 2 of the screws go there, maybe all three.

Next year have your boat winterized by someone else,or at least differently.

Also on the Cobra drive make sure you fill slowly from the bottom. They usually hold 64 ounces of HiVis gear lube.

All of the original drive screws are in place. Any other thoughts?

They are probably the pivot housing drain screws, you have 2 on one side and 1 on the other. You will have tilt the drive up to see all of them.

Thanks, I'll try that. Does that mean that my drive has no fluid in it. The shop said they changed it.

Look on the lower unit, starboard side, are the plugs in it?
Remove the dipstick on top and see if you have oil on it.
The dipstick plug is on the center of the top of drive, the middle of the square plate with 4 small bolts on the corners.About the size of a dime or a little smaller.Large flathead screwdriver to remove. If it was winterized properly it would be full of new gear oil..
lou's post about pivot housing plugs makes sense..check those also..

The plugs are in the drive and it has fluid. Where can i find the pivot housing? And why would they remove those screws for winterizing? Thanks.

The pivot housing is what the drive bolts to.The screws are to help drain water when winterizing.I just loosen the 6 nuts and slide the drive back a bit to drain excess water if I don't need to pull the drive.
