Help Please!
I just bought a 1964 Montgomery Wards Sea King 8hp Outboard. My research tells me that it's a 1964 VWB-19076 West Bend/Chrysler.
I have the original MW Service Manual. I need to remove the lower unit to work on the water pump, when follow the instructions and get to the step after unscrewing the upper from the lower things go bad.
The manual says that there is a screw connecting the upper shift rod to the lower, I need to remove this screw to seperate the upper from the lower, and that I should put the motor in reverse to see/access this screw. I can not find this screw, I can see the rod just fine but it's solid for as far as i can see up, and down...no matter if it's in forward-nutural-reverse, this puts my project at a standstill.
Has anybody else had this problem? Any ideas or solutions would be very welcome.
Thanks, & Cheers!
