120 to 140 ?

Mr. DH...Just to follow up on a earlier post, The deal on the rude 140 which was in peices fell thru .....no probs....As now i have a newer 1994 120 johnson at an steal of a deal ....8) .......My question is what is required to bump up this motor to a 140 .or just leave well enough alone ? btw the 120 "looper" is like u say way superior in torque ....and even quieter as well .eckoing a lot of other voices in here ....u are thee god of this site !And its free .......THKS. Leo

dreamchaser, the dif between the 120 and 140 is minimal at best. They're a great engine I've had a few and the only dif I can find is in the intake manifold, and maybe but not sure the carb jetting. If you are able to change out those items from the 140 to the 120 I think you should see some diference. You likely know that today they make one looper in that size and call it a 130hp engine. Thks Chief ......Did some checking on part no. and the 140 ,120 intakes are diff ....sounds like an easy swap ......now if i can pry them away from the owner....carbs included.

dreamchaser, if you do get the parts and install them you might pay close attention to the carbs as one or both of them could have been the reason the engine is in pieces. Chief Chief ;)

At 6000 rpm & less you'll never see the difference. At 6000+ and on something like a Hydrostream or Allison, you might - might - see something. Run (enjoy) the 120 as is. Don't beat yourself up on this.
