I am looking at a boat with sun faded, but not damaged, vinyl. Still soft etc. Does vinyl paint or vinyl die work? Anybody have any experience with this stuff?

Yes, the boat . . . No pics at this time and if I buy it, it will be tomorrow at first sight. One thing I will need to do is to fix the sun fade. My decision on purchase will depend on a few things, one beeing how much $ I'll need to get the interior right . . .

Thanks TJ.

Re: Faded Vinyl

I have used the plasticoat and it does work to a point.. but I was not happy with the result. came out streaky and very hard to get an even color, although I was trying to change from white to tan. it might work better staying with the same color... longevity wasn't too bad..didn't peel or flake off and retained a shine for 3 years before I recovered everything with new vinyl...

QC I have seen it used and as long as you are not going for a drastic color change AND it does not wear as well as the original stuff.

If everything else is worth it just recover everything.

I bought 20 yds of marine vinyl for $90, ripped out what hair I had left trying to it myself. Took the matirial and seats to a upholstery shop and it cost me $280 for 10 pieces. And now it looks great!
