Water started spraying from rear (I think) of engine or hose while engine is running. Boat would only go about 5mph. Trying to find problem (water pump, hose, other). Engine is 95 Merc 4.3L-V6 I/O. Any ideas?

The part about the boat only going 5mph is not good.
Could be anything from a cracked manifold or block.
If a hose is leaking it should not affect how the engine is running unless its overheating..
Maybe a bad riser or manifold dumping water into the cylinders.....just guessing.
Better pull the spark plugs and check the oil for water intrusion..

There is a hose that goes from the water pump housing to the transom... be sure where it goes to the transom it's nice and tight and not dripping/spraying.

Start it up and LOOK. Then tell us what/where it's leaking. We can tell you how to fix a problem, but can't see it to tell you what is leaking. We could guess at every item that has water in it, and someone would probably hit it eventually, but that's kind of a silly way to do it.
Take a picture and post it with circles and arrows to show where it's leaking if you don't know what something is called, or describe it as best you can.

The statement that it will only run 5mph got me thinking a major problem beyond just a leaky hose...:%

You mean a leaky hose spraying water on the distributor, ignition module and that sort of thing wouldn't cause a miss and slow you down? ;)
