i have a lower unit off of a 1986 85 hp force with a single piece drive shaft. will this fit on my 89 with a 2 piece shaft? only difference i can see is the water pump.
Nothing! It just bolts right up. Splines are the same, pump tube is the same and shift rod is in the same location. When I did it, I didn't even know that they had changed to a two piece drive shaft. Only way I found out was when I went to order a drive shaft seal. Woman showed me the diagram for a 1990 and it was different.
