1977 140 HP johnson where are my thermostats located on this motor? I have been unable to find them online either so I can order once I figure out where they are part number and web site would be appreciated. And no I do not have a manual yet.

Looking at the back of the engine at the bottom, just under the large hoses. They are shown in the parts diagram for the "exhaust housing".

Navigate to your engine, then look at the exhaust housing diagram. The third in the row of icons will enlarge it. Thermostats are near the top of the diagram.

Follow the rubber hoses from the bottom of each heads. They go to the t-stat cover. If your 77 is like my 87 they are a ***** to replace but can be done by the driveway mechanic.

I appreciate the quick replys after going to site ezeke suggested and crossing some numbers thru ishopmarine.com johnson pages I was able to detrmine the thermostats are part#183553 sierra marine still couldnt get a kit to cross for certain however I am ordering kit #183673 sierra thru iboats as this contains correct stats and is supposed to be for V-4 crossflows,I still am unsure if gaskets and the rest of parts in the kit will work but im going to give it a shot and hope.
