Hello, we have a 96 25hp suzuki that was running real good, only problem ever with it was the impeller had to be changed.
We ran it about 12 miles to some marsh cuts, and motored from one place to another. When we got ready to leave, the motor ran for about 10 minutes at slow speed, then died. Checked the carbs, plugs, fuel and fuel lines, everything looks good. Thought maybe the coil packs were bad, but wouldn't it still run on 2 of them? That was a few days ago, and the motor still won't start. Maybe the power pack? or jumped timing? Someone with some experience with these motors please help me out here. Thanks

Check out the "Outboard won't start" article in Engine FAQs. Then you will know whether it is ignition or fuel.

Good luck. :)

Re: 96 Suzuki dt25c starting problem

It has spark,( if it sheared the pin on the flywheel, will it still spark, just at the wrong time?) seems like it has compression,(i dont have a way to check it) and the plugs appear to be wet. There is a little button that the shift lever depress's when the motor is put in reverse. What is the purpose of this button?
And the kill switch button seems to be fine. I don't want to spend a bunch of money playing trial and error with this thing, so any and all tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
