Variation on the "I forgot the drainplug"

Well, I did forget the drainplug, but to make matters worse, that is attached to the oil drain tube, so the prop chopped off the end of the drain tube, and the motor sucked up a lot of water. The boat ran fine, had good oil (water:rolleyes:) pressure, and I got no alarms. I've changed the oil 4 times, with a new filer each time, and I'm still getting milky oil out. It's getting better, but slowly. Is there a better way to flush water out of the system?

You could add a quart or two of kerosene to the oil. Do not run above idle speed but let it run for a little while after it reaches normal operating temp and drain it while it's still hot. May still need to be done a couple of times, replacing the filter with each drain and refill.

Diesel fuel works just as good as kerosene, and costs less in a lot of places.
Once you get the oil "Mostly" clear, the only way to get the final bit of milky out is to take it out and run it and get it at opertating temp for awhile.
The temp gauge may only show 170 or so, but the oil will be hotter and burn off (as steam) the last of the water in the oil. May take a couple of trips, but it will clean up............ eventually.
