I have a chrysler 158h3d 15hp elec start. I think it is a 1983, did chysler make motors under many dif. names? The motor is missing the bonnet and I would love to identify and find one.

I think you're right on the year. H is the eighth letter and three making 83.

West Bend became Chrysler in the mid sixties became Force by US Marine in the mid eighties became Force by Mercury in the early nineties and died at the end of 1999. I think they were something else before West Bend. Memory is failing. Some Sears and Wards motors were made by Chrysler/Force. Not sure of any others. tcoutboard.com or eBay for a hood.

Oh yeah, they started life as Kissel outboards. They also made cars.

9.9, 10 12, 12.9, 15. Anything from late 70s to (i think)84 will interchange

Some Sea Kings 74 up may be the same.Maybe Force from 84 up. I'm just going by Chrysler,Sea King,Force 15 hp production years.
