I have two teak platforms on the back of my boat, What would be the best way to restore these? Clean and oil?

Re: Teak

Get some Teak Oil and 0000 grit steel wool and apply the oil with the Steel Wool working with the grain, rub it in really good. Do not seal it.

Re: Teak

bsh21wsh, It really depends on the condition of the wood.. at the least you probably need to use a cleaner on it.. if you find that the grain is rough after you use the cleaner.. then I would sand it with a sander and then apply the oil or sealer of your choice..... the maint. will be ongoing and should be done frequently as the longer it goes unprotected the more you will need to sand the next time... eventually there will be less and less to sand.

sounds to me you have 2 small teak walkies off your transom...each with own ladder.. ( like 2 small plats off each side of your motor(s)..

Take em off...remove hardwares..and sand with 80G paper removing all bad teak...( you know..the grey and the brown stuff.. ) oil it with teak oils every 2-3 weeks..

or..sand up to 220G and varnish it with 8 coats of varnish..

YD.
