Hi all ! Just needing a little advise on an impeller for this motor ? Anyone might have the part number ? I noticed at Idle the water flow out the tell tale was sputtering. at mid range rpm the tell tale was nice and strong. (Hopefully I dont have any blockage). Anyway I've changed the impellers on higher HP mercs of the 70's but never one this small. Does anyone have any tips or tricks I can follow ? This is my dads motor and I just want to borrow it as a back up motor for my big boat when I'm on the Big lake. I know I need a manual but I dont have one at this time....

should I be in N when dropping the Lower Unit ?
Where would the shift shaft disconnect ?
by the way it's a 24" shaft.
Thanks for any advise !
Joe.

....yeah I had a 60's evinrude that had a cover on the leg and in there is where the shift shaft would be disconnected. This 24" leg doesn;t have it. So I was thinking it might detatch from under the hood !?
Thanks for the reply though !

so should it be left in N ? Or F ? when changing ?
And would you know a site that might cross reference the serial number for correct Impeller part number ?
Thanks !
Joe.

http://www.oldmercs.com/lowerunit.html
u can go here to get impeller numbers and pricing
and the lu can be left in n or f when i did my motor i put mine in n then got a ratchet correct size to the spline and put it in f checked it was changing right ways then bolted it all up
