how much water does a cradle lift require?

i have a baja 20outlaw. how much water would be required to install and operate a cradle lift? any suggestions on lifts?

You'll need at least 3ft in most cases. If you have less than that you need a sling lift if anybody still makes them.

most of the new one i see, are using the aluminum frame with bunks on them raised buy cables. of the ones that are rail mounted, with the forks with bunks mounted across them. here's a good sample : http://www.boatliftwarehouse.com/

yea, i have a lift with straps right now. let me tell you, IT IS A PAIN!!!!!

unfortunately, i dont have 3 feet ALL the time. i MIGHT have it at high tide....and thats it. maybe it could work in less water if once i get it up to the hoist, i use a winch to pull it up onto the cradle. it certainly isnt trial and error.

ok, i was two and a half hours off of high tide, and measured between two feet three inches to two feet nine inches. my baja 20outlaw's bow is far out of the water, and the stern deep into the water, because of the large engine set in the far back, off balance. so is it a no go? do you think i could get the bow into the cradle, then winch the boat on top of the cradle? this would really be nice, because straps just arent cutting it.
