Hi! I have this motor that shows very little use, but the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. Motor has a serial number 3M-658481 on the frame. It has a Tecumseh motor with a tag with T643-19A followed by 7180330. My local Tecumseh dealer checked with his supplier and says there are no parts available, but I want to explore further. I'd appreciate any advice any of you may have. I just placed an online order with Master Tech, and perhaps they will have what I need.

I've been to that site, but they require Sears parts numbers. I may be missing something, but so far that's been a dead end.

Go to certifiedpartscorp.com then call the number listed on that web site. You have all the info you need to order a carb kit. This place essentially bought all the Eska parts available, and they have just about everything.

The owner will make up a carb rebuild kit from the individual carb parts. A bit spendy, but worth it. It's a very valuable resource for any outboard made by Eska.

1975 5Hp. Probably a common Tillotson carb. Anyplace that sells lawnmower parts will have the kit. Probably the most common Tillotson carb kit there is. No challenge. Just get a kit for just about any Tillotson carb for a motor of about that size with a float instead of a diaphragm. Probably dirt-cheap as well.

Just a plug for Certified Parts. I called them, gave them the model number, and my VISA and not only got the parts needed, I got a copy of the owners manual, too. What a pleasant experience. Yes, the parts were a bit pricey, but considering they aren't making a lot of Eska parts these days, I'm sure not complaining.

Yup, the folks there are great. As you said, the prices are a little steep, but the time saved in calling them is worth it. They know these Eskas backwards and forwards and have most of the parts.

From what the guy I talked to said, they bought the entire parts stock from Eska. Eventually, they'll run out, but for now, it's the very best source for anyone looking for parts for an Eska-based outboard.

You can get some of those carb parts from a small engine repair shop, but only if the person in that shop feels like figuring out what you need, and that's usually iffy. Most of those folks don't care about your obsolete outboard, or at least that's what I've found.
