Re: SUPERboat floor repair help

Are you sure you just need a floor? that stringer doesn't look to healthy.

What year, make and model?

Do you have any better pics?

For the floor 1/2" exterior grade douglas fir plywood, glass & resin on both sides, bond to stringers and glass 6-8" up the hull sides.

If this is your first time in boat repair you will have a lot more questions.
You picked a great place to start.

Hard to say from that picture....but I'd expect the foam is waterlogged also. You can't tell at the TOP, it would be waterlogged on the bottom few inches. It should come out where waterlogged.

If the stringers are OK it's not as bad a job as you may think, heck I did it. Geting the foam out is the hardest part, i thought. Even if fairly solid you'll want to get some resin (epoxy or poly) on any parts of the stringers that appear to be damaged at all or have screw holes in them.

Make sure you leave a few inches of original floor on the perimiter of the section you are replacing. This will give you more options as to how to attach the new floor section.

Hack out some foam to check for water at the bottom, get some better pictures and then folks here can help you.

Re: SUPERboat floor repair help

From your first post I wasn't sure if it was acuatly a Superboat or if you just thought your boat was "super".
I realy like the lines the old school offshore boats. I think those came out of the old Pantera molds.

Is this an I/O or outboard?
Length?

Re: SUPERboat floor repair help

See my post here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=181061

May be helpful; I had same issue... 1st boat, soft floors, didn't know how bad off they could be until searching and inquiring on here. Seems like if you want it to last a while... go through all the inspecting procedures on the stringers and transom, and REPLACE anything in question. Better to do it right "right now", than do it again later. Good luck! I'm just getting back to work on mine....
