What year is my 15HP Johnson?

I tried googling and looking for model numbers, but no luck there...

The model is J15REIA. Bought used and owner didn't know what year it was.

Also anyone know what I have to do when winterizing the motor, or anything in the spring, before taking it out on the water? I filled the lower unit with gear lube, and sprayed the fogging spray in the air intake and disconnected the gas line and let the gas run out of the fuel lines, which I treated with fuel treatment and stabilizer. Also sprayed fogging oil where the spark plugs go into. Hope I didn't forget anything.

Now that it's spring, I wanna get out on the water. I am gonna get new spark plugs, anything else I should do? I am gonna make sure it starts up this weekend and let it idle for a while.
Thanks.

Re: What year is my 15HP Johnson?

Thanks for the help.

I am gonna see if I can get the motor running this weekend. Can't wait to get out and do some fishing. I don't have to do anything special for "dewinterizing" if there is such a thing? All I am gonna do is change the spark plugs. Anything else I need to do?

Wow them manuals listed are kinda expensive. Which one is the better manual to buy? Owners manual or the service manual?

Sorry for the stupid questions. Only had my boat for 1 year, so still pretty new to it....

Thanks again.

Forget the owner's manual. Get the service manual. That's the one that will show you how to do whatever it is you need to do on your outboard.

owners manual tells you how to start it, and shift gears and throttle.. service manual, tells you how to troubleshoot and do repairs. get the number of the service manual, and watch ebay ebaymotors - manuals-johnson/evinrude. also read this. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086
