I had my transom replaced but was able to leave the fiberglass shell in tact. All the original holes are still on the outside of the hull. Couldn't I just drill through existing holes ? would it line up without a allignment tool? It' s a 87 alpha II.

Not sure what you are asking, but, the alignment tool is to check alignment, not to actually align the drive/engine.....
That is done at the front motor mounts......;)

After more thought, I assume that you are talking about drilling through the repair using the original holes....
Sure you can.....
But you should still check the alignment, with the tool, after reassembly.....:)

Ayuh,.......

I've used the fiberglass Cut-out to cut New plywood to mount the transom assembley,......

But, as noted by Haut,.....
You Still gotta Align everything After it's assembled......

So even if I manage to get it in the same place it was , it still needs allignment? Would I be able to tell if it was out of allignment by the way it goes back together?

They sell the alignment tool on ebay all the time for about $50 or so......
You really need to check it......
No, you cannot tell just by the way it goes back together.....;)
