I am going to take out the gimble bearing to aid in the making of an alignment tool, does anyone know the size, type and standard nam of the bearing so I can order one locally. The local bearing factor tells me he can get anything but needs more detail. I know in the marine world its known as the gimble bearing but wondered if it had another use in industry, so it can be sourced locally.
Cheers Guys.

If you have a Volvo Penta source the gimble bearing is the same.

Maybe this will help you with the deminsions of the alignment shaft.

Re: Pre Alpha Gimble

Those are the dimensions for the 'alignment tool'. It is constructed in a way to work with all years of Merc, Volvo and the later OMC's. The original tool that would have been used on your drive only had one step on it. But the above design is what every one is using now.

Merc put out those dimensions so that shops could modify their original one step tool.
