Re: Supreme Court upholds first nationwide ban on an abortion procedure

I have a problem with any abortion post 12 weeks regardless of the procedure.Unless the unborn has severe defects that would eliminate his chance of a normal life or place a mother at risk of hers giving birth.Of course those scenarios are not the norm.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this ruling means very little in the whole scheme of things. As the article points out, women will simply choose other legal means of abortion rather than the "partial birth" abortion.

I will with hold my abortion opinion, as this is not the time.

"The procedure at issue involves partially removing the fetus intact from a woman?s uterus, then crushing or cutting its skull to complete the abortion."

Where I am from, that's called murder. And I am sorry if it hurts your feelings when I call it murder, but crushing the skull of another human being is murder.

Oops... is this the right time to share an opinion?

I`m against 99.9% of all abortions. Now a Partial Birth Abortion is just plain wrong. The argument is always. "What about the welfare of the Mother"? Look, if the Baby is almost completely out, could someone tell me what killing the baby at this point could posably benifit the Mother in any way? I mean, the heads out, the rest just slips right out. Where are we going, does it have all it`s toes, are the eyes the right color, is it a boy or a girl?

Many of you really should read what is written rather than jump to conclusions regarding thoughts and opinions.

He77 RF, I did not know this was the direction you wanted this thread to go. Simply put, I did not want to change this into a debate regarding the morality of abortion. You know, it's one of those, been there, done that, sort of things.

ob, my first sentence simply states fact, not my opinion. It really does mean little. Other forms are still legal, therefore, abortion will continue. It's not by my choice, it's by the courts choice. Get it? I have nothing to do with it. Where did I say it was good, bad, right, or wrong? I think, yes, I think, if you read every word I typed, it says, "fortunately or unfortunately." I specifically stated it this way to keep my opinion on abortion out for reasons already stated.

I don't like W, so that must mean I am on board with every far left belief? Is that where you came up with this? How ignorant and thoughtless, to say the least. Since many of you sit on the right side of the fence, can I say about you, the same things I say about Mark Foley? Sounds like fair game to me. You all set the precedent, not me.

RF, it in no way hurts my feelings! What in the heck makes you think your opinion hurts my, or anybody elses feelings? It was out of simple respect for you and your thread that I not bring this to an abortion debate. I now see where that got me.

I agree with CJY. This is a "MUST READ" article. And he is also correct that it means very little to the law, or constitutionality in total. Moreover, it will soon (no-doubt) be CHALLENGED by an actual case. Read Anthony Kennedy's comments... His "mind is open"... The pro-murder lobby will wittle at him until he changes it.
Don't EVER drop your guard or your standards, thinking this battle is won. It will never be. That is the trap they have always set, with "Roe vs Wade" as a result.

CJY, I wasn't singling you out. I was commenting to the general iboats audience.

Who's feelings were I worrying about? Let me clarify. I was told (in a previous thread) that my views on abortion were hurtful and mean spirited. That's where my hurting-your-feelings comment was directed.

I guess my comment about being the right time to share an opinion was sort of at your expense... but it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

Peace

I think that those were the only circumstances where this kind of abortion could be performed before--when the mother's life was at risk...and that this eliminates that option, officially, at least.

Why do they have to kill the baby if the mothers life is at risk? The baby is already half born before they saw off it's head a-la-al-qaeda.

It bothers me only to the extent that if a mother's life depends on the procedure, how can we in good concience sentence both child AND mother to death?

I'm no fan of abortion, but I am less of a fan of letting a bunch of male blowhards in Washington make decisions for all women.

It's about time.

The more you know about, the more you realize why 90+% of doctors won't do it.

Once you have your own kids, you will wonder why the procedure was ever invented.
