I have a 1965 6hp seaking motor that i cant get started. This motor has plenty of spark but will not run . I even tried taking the plugs out and giving it a shot of eather straight into the cyclinders then replacing the plugs . I cant even as much as get a hit out of it. It has between 55lbs. and 60lbs. of compression, I was told it would not start with less than 90lbs. of compression. Is this true, and if not do I need to over haul this motor. If anyone has any suggestions to get me and my son back to fishing on the waters it would be greatly appericatied.

60 seems to be the threshhold. There and lower doesn't seem to pull from the carburetor. I'd pull the head and hope for a bad gasket. That motor should have compression in the 80-100psi range.

The paint on the powerhead will discolor when overheated. Tan means it overheated. Pinkish tan means it's pretty much toast.
