I have an 88 2.3 liter omc cobra. the engine starts easily but dies as soon as you let go of the key. the boat has points type ignition. commonly when an engine dies when releasing the key the ballast resistor is bad. this engine ignition has a resistor wire.i tried to bypass the wire with a ballast resistor with the same resistance of the wire. that didnt help. i replaced the points i thought maybe it was the ignition switch. i did not replace it but i tried starting with "hot wiring". that didnt work either. Can anybody tell me if the ESA could be causing this symptom. i would rather not buy it unless i know for sure that is the problem. Thanks
