Re: finally started

look like it was a well made wooden boat. if in the US, i would date it in the 1950's. there's a lot of work to make it sea worthy. 1st the transom is going to have to be beefed up for the 115 hp engine. how long is it and the width. it also looks like a heavy boat.

Re: finally started

not anymore!!!! :D:D:D:D

needs a new transom its got some rot in it damn rot!!!! and had some in the cabin :( now its a big dinghy

i will mesure the transom tomorrow and its also not that heavy

another problem is it has a leak not much though but that will have to wait a wile

what kind of wood should i use for my new half cab? for framing i know i will sheet it with ply and then fibreglass the whole deck and transom is fibrglassed. should i put layers of fibreglass inside the hull make it stronger if its would help i will do it. another problem is the old trailer instead of having wooden stips to sit on it had 4 little pads about 10cm by 20cm and were a little high bout 1.5cm and have put little dents in each corner should i fill this in with glass or push it out from inside and make up somekind of support inside to fix it?

Re: finally started

before you do any more cutting, put some cross braces in that boat, so it doesn't spread. then push it off the trailer, and fix the trailer. push the bottom out and reinforce form the inside. then reload the boat, and continue work. i over the years have found if you block the trailer up so it doesn't rock as you move around in it. make the work much easier.

Re: finally started

the guy i brought the trailer off said he will setup the trailer properly for me for free i just gotta take it to him i will get some cheap wood and cross brace it how do i cross brace? screws nails? i dont want to make more of a mess to it. but i would prefer that it was cross braced so i guess i will be doing it with the dents in the bottom they are from the old trailer and are not near the supports of this boat trailer so i can work on it without pulling it off the trailer
