I just came in off the water. While on the river I met some friends. Their dog was not with them so I asked "Where is your dog?" They replied "We had to put him down."
"What happened?"
"He fell off the front of the boat and was cut by the prop."

Their boat is a 19 foot bowrider. Now, I didn't feel the need to go into all the gory details, but I'll bet the dog was standing on the bow, in the wind, and was bounced out by a wake.

If they had to put him down, this means he was alive and suffering with probably no quick relief on the water. I find this upsetting and needless.

So people----When underway, please keep pets on a lanyard that will not allow them to go overboard. Pets are not intellegent enough to think about their own safety so we must do it for them.

Wow, that is sad. I agree that the people must be responsible for their pets. On the water and off the water.

Why did you post that here, Frank? This forum is for resolving problems in using the website and the fora.

I will move it to Dockside Chat for you.

I wasn't sure exactly where to post it but I figured that one of the moderators would move it if in the wrong place. Thanks for putting it in the proper forum.

Re: Pet safety

Good advice, I never even let my dogs on the bow when the boat's moving. Very sad.
