1994 75hp Merc

I recently got this motor and it is my first oil injected. Will order factory manual tomorrow but meantime: With the key on and motor not running I hear a very sick weak sonalert. Is this normal until the motor is started and where can I get a replacment? Dealer?

Could be wiring, could be either the low oil switch or over temp switch, or even a bad module.
Disconnect the low oil switch, then the over temp switch and see if the sound stop.
If not you will need to do a continuity check on the alarm wiring to see if it is picking up voltage from somewhere.
Other than those items, it would be the warning module (black box mounted on engine.

It seems I have a bad warning module (14857A5 written on the mod) and they are no longer available. I can't even verify that part no on Merc's web site. Its almost as if they have done away with them. With that said, it looks like it could be bypassed and still get an alarm for over heating or low oil. Just not the 2 different type beeps. Has anyone done this?
