I just bought a used 03 Ranger 520vx. When I filled up the tanks for the first time an noticed an almost unbearable gas smell in my garage. There is no noticable leaks outside of the boat. The fuel gauge still says full. When I open the rear panel where the batteries are located the smell is really strong. Also noticed the smell coming from vents located below the seats.
Is this normal or should I have it checked out?

I am guessing you are talking about the vents in the floor in front of the seats.
Sounds like maybe the tank vent/s are not working properly or one or both have came off the tank/s.
You should have a vent to the outside of the boat, see if you smell gas at it/them.

The vents below the seats faces the bow. I can also smell gas coming from the vent on the floor. Im not sure where the vent is located that goes outside of the boat.

I checked the hull beneath the deck around the battery and it was dry. I removed the drain plug and nothing is coming out of that either.
