If any ya'll can pull this out, you'll have honor and stuff bestowed upon ye....
I was fishing at the extreme western tip of Lake Grapevine where it turns into a stump field. Close by was a large sand bar the connects to a main road and several trucks, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and even a sand rail buggy were racing around having a good time. Soon I heard something stuck. It was an old Bronco II with a mild lift and it was stuck to the rocker panels half in, half out of the water. Unable to open the door, this guy climbs out and stares at his predicament. Within minutes a F250 diesel shows up and backs into position to pull him out. After a few minutes, he's managed to get himself stuck too. The two guys are conferring about the situation when another truck pulls up to try. This one has the Skyjacker suspension and sounds pretty good, but unfortunately does not have a chain long enough to stay out of the muck, thus winding up like the 1st contestant. He just has a big rope. He ties this on and even from my vantage point 50 yards away I'm cringing because I can see this rope stretching as the truck lunges forward. Then there is a loud POP! immediately followed by a sharp explosion. The truck trying to pull the other out now has a busted rear window from the rope whipping into the back of the cab. After some cursing and consultation, the guy starts trying to dig his truck out after Skyjacker decided to leave before A-1 Autoglass closed. Several other lesser vehicles all took turns trying to extract the Bronco and F250 with zero success. As I was leaving, a tow truck rumbled into view. He was followed by a Grapevine cop.
Bad day at the lake.
