Smoke and Heat 4.3

I just took my 1991 Chaparral out for the first time this year and the ride lasted about five minutes. It has the 4.3 Volvo Penta stearn drive with dual props. Two hundred yards from the dock the engine started getting really hot and two minutes later blue smoke was rolling off the motor. I immediately turned back to the dock and shut it off. Checked the oil and it was clean. The boat was winterized when garaged for the winter. Do you think the impeller is bad or what???? Thanks

It does not sound like he did the "run it on the muffs and check everything" before the first splash of the year..
How hot was REALLY HOT?

No telling How much Money could have been Saved by a Pre-Trip Inspection.........

when is the last time you changed it?

The oil was changed when it was put up for the winter (November 06).

Pegged the gauge. It was winterized when I parked it for the winter (November 06).

It was winterized November 06. Idid a public water run of the engine before I took it out and everything was fine. I took it to the local Marine shop today. They think it's the impeller. I guess I'll know the full extent of damage in a few days. Thaks for the reply.
