will this engine replace my AQ 120 b.
Can I just drop it in?
The AQ 175 was connected to a 270 outdrive which is what I have now but being this AQ 175 is a V-6 I need to change gears in outdrive.
Is there anything else I will need to change?
The boat is a 1981 Bayliner Explorer 2670

Thanks

You are going to need an exhaust Y for the V6, and yes, you will need to change gear ratios.

What will the Y pipe cost and how do I look for it online does it have a part number. The engine is 1,350 dollars rebuilt. Could the Y pipe cost around 300-500?

Re: Aq 175 V-6

It's going to take a LOT more than just the Y pipe. Depending on the type manifolds and risers the 175 has, you will need elbows and hoses to adapt to the exhaust Y. Since the 175 was never installed with a 270 outdrive and transom shield, it's hard to say exactly what will be needed.
I found the PN for your 270 transom shield, and one for a V8 with the same transom shield and the exhaust Y for a V8 (long V6) has a PN or 835336 which lists for about 900 bucks from Volvo.
Does the 175 have the flywheel cover (aka bellhousing) on it? If not, the one off the 120 will NOT fit.

Contemplating doing this same thing in my one boat I pulled the B36 out of- it actually has a 200/250 (200 lower, 250 upper right now) drive. The biggest expense is the bellhousing/flywheel adapter housing. At least my outdrive is correct ratio (I believe it's 1.59 or 1.61) as my b36b had 180 HP.
Overall it's a big commitment. And I have the 3.8 engines for free to start with. What's the $1350 engine got with it? If it has all electrical, fuel system and exhaust manifolds, it MIGHT be worth it. If it's a long block, or you're eyeballing the V6 shortblocks I have on eBay, forget it.... too much work and $.. a donor boat is always the way to go with these projects. Even a donor OMC or Merc 3.8 powered boat would be better as a starting point.
