94 Rinker 265V, 454 bravo 3. Bought boat at the end of last year. First trip to the lake ran 45 mph, smooth and no problems. Second trip ran good all weekend. After a hard bank turn it started cutting out. Trailered the boat home found trim wires laying on the coil. Took the boat out last weekend and it ran great up to 3300 rpm then it started cutting out. Would not acellerate past 3300 rpm's pull back to 3200 rpms and she runs smooth. I not sure it's it fuel or an electrical problem. Any one got any idea's were to start?

Were the trim wires burnt(coil shorting out?)

Not sure, I had the gimble ring replaced and while they were in there I replaced the sensors and the gauge. The trim and gauge all work now. I have been thinking about changing the coil. But I could throw parts at it all day long.

You said the trim wires were laying on the coil; it is important to know if the coil was shorted out. If it was, probably new coil will fix it. Does the coil get hot?

Another often overlooked item: sometimes the exhaust flappers come off and get stuck in the exhaust path effectively choking the engine. If nothing else pans out you may want to just pull the exhaust hoses and verify the flappers are still in place. Also the choke plate linkage on the carb can come loose and allow the choke to close at high rpm, this will also choke the engine. But I think you are definitely going to want to take a close look at that coil if you had a problem there before.
