I installed a new water pump in my 85 HP Force and need the bolt torque for the mounting bolts. The mamual I have is confusing, it list torques on seperate pages then you actually work from. Depending on how you look at it, it could be 70 in lb or 40 ft lb! Any help out there?

Re: lower unit torque

Water pump bolts: 1/4-20, standard torque--70 inch pounds.

Lower unit mounting bolts: 5/16-18, standard torque--160 inch pounds.

Be sure to use anti seize , grease, or vaseline on the full length of all bolts to avoid corrosion damage.
