I was riding on the lake last weekend and after about an hour of boating my boat began to surge. It did this for about 10 min. then fell off plane. After I started to accerate agian it would not take full throttle, but did plane. About 5 min. it did the same thing. So I turned the boat off and waited. It then ran ok for 10 min. and did same thing. Waves seemed to make it worse. This continued until I made it back to my trailer. It would idol ok, it seemed to do this under a load. Can any one tell what the problem might be. I have installed a new carberater and fuel pump. Thanks.

A solution is more likely to be found in the inboard/outboard forum, not in the Forums Issues catagory that you posted in.

I'm sure a mod will come along and move you to the right place. They put this forum at the bottom so people would quit posting boat questions in it. I guess it did not work.

Could be a fuel delivery issue, have you changed your fuel filter or water separator lately? Also the pickup in the tank can get covered with crud or the anti siphon valve at the tank could be sticking. Another thing is the vent line for the fuel tank, if it's plugged it will cause a vacumm that the pump has trouble over coming, next time out when it acts up, loosen the fuel fill cap and see if that helps.

could be a piece of crud in the needle/seat. Maybe the choke flapping shut.

I have the same engine, same problem. I would like to see some more posts so I'm going to bump this back to the top.

I think you might have an electrical problem. Check the fuel system and if no luck sounds like distributer or coil.

Fuel delivery issue. Sounds like water in the fuel. Possibly gunked up the new carb. Pull the water separator and dump it into a clear jar, you'll tell right away if theres water in your system.
