Hopefully i will get to splash the new to me boat next weekend. This motor sounds fine on the muffs but what all do i need to check before the shakedown cruise? I plan on draining the fuel tank and checking the filter screens on the engine. It does smoke pretty heavy at start up but clears up in a minute...I also think i'll stick some new spark plugs in..Anything i'm overlooking? I was told this motor set for at least 2 years...
I'm hoping the carbs are ok..they look intimidating:eek:

If it sat I'd replace the waterpump before I went much further.....with sitting the impeller tends to dry out and may already be breaking apart. Worst case scenerio would be to have a chunk plug up the water tube and then overheat.

As far as the carbs go, you may be ok........but may have to rebuild them depending on how this was stored. Can't really determine that on muffs unfortunately.

Good Luck Gary, let us know how it goes.
